Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification process designed to remove dissolved salts, contaminants and impurities from water by forcing it through a very fine semipermeable membrane under pressure.
Typically, osmosis is a natural process in which water moves from a less concentrated solution to a more concentrated one through a semipermeable membrane. Reverse osmosis works in the opposite direction, using pressure to force water through a specialized membrane while leaving salts, bacteria, viruses, and other impurities behind.
